MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Four labourers were found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Alishang district of eastern Laghman province on Sunday, officials and residents said.
The governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News the four were found dead before noon in the Mian Sahib Dabara area.
Accusing Taliban insurgents of the massacre, he said the slain individuals had been engaged in the construction of a bridge in the area.
But a resident of the area, Najmuddin, said the labourers were drinking tea when a drone attacked them.
He said there were no insurgents in the area and the bridge was being constructed 100 metres away from the district centre.
Another resident, Najibur Rahman Yousafzai, also said the four men were killed in a drone strike when they were carrying sand for the under-construction bridge in a six-wheeler vehicle. He said the slain men were civilians, including a father and his son.
The district chief, Syed Sharif Pacha, confirmed the incident, saying the victims were civilians.
He said residents had informed him that the four individuals had been killed in a drone attack.
