PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Four Taliban, including a dreaded commander, have been killed and two others detained during an overnight raid by Afghan security forces in central Logar province, an official said Saturday.
The incident took place in the Chalozio locality of Baraki Barak district on Friday night, District Chief Mohammad Rahim Amin said.
He said the rebels had lived in a house that was raided by security forces. US troops also assisted the Afghan forces in the operations, he added. Taliban have not yet spoken about the incident.
Elsewhere, a civilian was killed and five others, including four security personnel, wounded during separate incidents of violence in Saydabad, Jalrez districts and Maidan Shahr, the provincial capital of central Maidan Wardak province.
In southeastern Khost province, police recovered explosives used in making landmine and arrested an individual who wanted to kidnap a three years old boy, police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghirat said.
