4 soldiers killed, 12 wounded in Kabul blast
KABUL (Pajhwok): Four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and a dozen others wounded in a bomb attack on their bus in Kabul on Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
The incident took place around 7am in Shams area of the 7th police district, MoD spokesman Maj. Gen. Zahir Azimi said. Four soldiers were killed and 12 others, including six civilians, wounded in the incident, he added.
But one eyewitness said three civilians were also killed in the blast. As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility. Their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that 12 security personnel had suffered casualties.
Up to 9,000 Afghan soldiers and police have been killed or wounded so far during the current year, according to an American military estimate. There has been an uptick in militant-linked violence as foreign combat troops prepare to exit Afghanistan.
But a residual force of 9,800 US troops will stay in country under the Bilateral Security Agreement that the national unity government signed a day after President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai was sworn in last month.
