KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty militants, including foreign terrorists, were killed in fresh airstrikes in the tribal region of North Waziristan on Wednesday, the Pakistani military claimed.
At least five insurgent hideouts were eradicated as a result of air raids in the Kiza Madakhel and Ezark areas of Dattakhel sub-district near the Afghanistan border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
After a lot of reluctance, the Pakistan army launched the operation codenamed Zarb-i-Azb on June 15 against local and foreign militants in North Waziristan.
A dozen terrorists and three soldiers were killed on Tuesday when Pakistani forces thwarted an attack by militants from across the border. The military says it has cleared more than 80pc of the territory in North Waziristan.
