TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen adducted five workers of ‘Save the Children’ NGO in central Uruzgan province, an official said Tuesday.
Gul Agha, chief for the first police district in Tarinkot, the provincial capital, told Pajhwok Afghan News that employees of the organization had traveled to Surkhab to visit their project when Taliban militants picked them.
The organization, he said had implemented deep well projects for providing potable water for the residents of Surkhab district. Police had launched investigation to locate the employees.
Zubaida Akbar, spokesman of Save the Children confirmed five employees were missing in Uruzgan province but she did not provide more details.
However, father of one of the abductees confirmed that he had no contacts with his son. Taliban did not comment on the incident so far.
