6 suspected militants killed in Waziristan drone strike
Pakistani media, monitored here, indicated the death toll could go up as some of the injured were in critical condition. The unmanned aircraft struck a compound in the Shahi Khel area of Shawwal sub-district.
According to DawnNews, the drone fired two missiles at the compound, but identity of those killed could not be ascertained immediately. Shawal valley, off-limit to journalists, lies on the border between North and South Waziristan.
In June last year, the Pakistan military launched a counter-insurgency offensive codenamed 'Zarb-i-Azb' in the region. On January 15, seven suspected militants were killed, and five others injured in a similar raid in South Waziristan.
