FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials on Sunday confirmed the killing of three policemen and five Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel in different incidents in western Farah province.
Taliban militants killed the three policemen while captured a fourth in Pushtrod district, Jawad Afghan, spokesman for the governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But rebel spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said they had overrun a police check post, killed four policemen and snatching arms and ammunition.
In Kabul, a brief statement from the Defence Ministry announced five ANA troops were killed in different bomb blasts in the past 24 hours. However, it gave no further details of the blasts.
