JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nine students were wounded on Sunday when a bomb exploded in front of a school in the Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official and eyewitness said.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, said six students had been wounded in the blast. But Director of Education Mohammad Asif Shinwari put the number of injured students at nine.
Mirwais, an eyewitness, said the bomb was planted by unidentified men last night in front of the school. The device went off when students were inside their classrooms. Initial information suggested four students were wounded, he said.
Dr. Humayun Zahir, Jalalabad Civil Hospital director, confirmed receiving six wounded people who were in stable condition.
Hazrat Hussain Mashraqiwal, the provincial police spokesman, confirmed the incident but said only two students were injured.
No group so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
