KABUL‘s Punjab province for next week’s international friendly match against the neighbouring country.
Following their arrival in Islamabad, the footballers travelled via the Motorway to Lahore, where the friendly will be played on Saturday at the Punjab Stadium, a Pakistani newspaper reported.
The two sides last met in Kabul in August 2013 when the Afghans trounced the visitors 3-0. That match which was a warm-up for the last SAFF Championship.
Later, Afghanistan Cup and AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers.
Dawn quoted a federation official as calling the match a nice moment for Pakistan football — an international match for the first time since October 2014.
Palestine was the last international side that visited the country, Pakistan Football Federation’s marketing consultant Sardar Naveed Haider Khan told the daily.
The Afghans have sent out their ‘B’ team for the game. Pakistan, meanwhile, will be without their captain Kaleemullah and ace winger Mohammad Adil.
