Afghanistan wins medals in Taekwondo

KABUL national Taekwondo team has won three medals of gold, silver and bronze at the third Fujairah Open International Taekwondo Championship held in the United Arabic Emirates (UAE), officials said on Saturday.

Nearly 66 athletes from 58 countries took part in the event, which were held from February 5 to 7.

Afghan Olympic Committee said in a statement Mustafa Qurlaq managed to beat his rivals from Libya, Emirates and Kazakhstan and secure the only gold medal for Afghanistan.

Obaid Dilawar beat his Lebanese and Ukrainian rivals, but lost in his third match against Belgium. He was awarded silver medal. Wahab Zazai was another Afghan player who secured a bronze medal, said the statement.
