KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Six militants, including a would-be suicide bomber, have been detained by intelligence operatives in southern Kandahar province, officials said on Wednesday.
The group was busted along with guns and explosives during special operations, according to a statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The detainees planned to target high-ranking security officials in the province. Twenty-seven magnetic bombs, 10 rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), 7 hand grenades, and three motorbikes were seized.
Meanwhile, police on the Kabul-Kandahar highway seized 10-kg of drugs, including crystal that was skillfully placed in a vehicle.
Samim Khpalwak, provincial governor spokesperson, said four individuals — residents of northern Takhar province — had been arrested on the charges of smuggling.
