LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Proper attention has not been paid to arming Afghan National Army (ANA) troops stationed in southern Helmand province, contributing to insecurity there, the deputy governor said.
Ahmad Masood Bakhtawar said this while speaking at a gathering of the 215thMaiwand Corps, arranged in honour of newly-deputed ANA commander Dadan Lawang.
He said one of the reasons behind growing insecurity in the province was lack of equipping the 215th Maiwand Crops. The Defence Ministry has failed to provide security forces with complete equipment in the fight against miscreant.
Masood said the magnitude of current was in Afghanistan the only threat to Afghanistan. The war had the backing of intelligence agencies from the neighboring countries.
Gen. Lawang pledged to eliminate the armed opposition groups within available resources. “Our security forces were capable to all kinds of challenges, including the elimination of ongoing insurgency provided proper leadership to them.
The militants, he said, were employing all tactics to foment insecurity in the province and then extend their nefarious activities to other parts of the country, he warned.
Karimi said that the ANA 215th Maiwand Corps would be provided with direly needed equipment and facilities. He also promised to work out an inclusive strategy to control law and order.
