ANA soldier among 11 killed in Jawzjan clash
SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): One Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and ten rebels were killed and seven others wounded during an attack on security forces convoy in northern Jawzjan province, an official said Tuesday.
The gun battle erupted Monday afternoon in the Qosh Tapa district when ANA convoy was heading toward Shiberghan, the provincial capital, deputy police chief Col. Zamanuddin Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed killing ten ANA soldiers and injuring 14 others. He said two tanks and ten military vehicles were also damaged in the fire fight.
Khudi Guldi, a resident of the locality, said heavy gun fire was underway between rebels and security forces, which lasted for two hours.
