MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Civil society activists in northern Balkh province on Saturday condemned the attack on a satirical weekly magazine in Paris.
Two brothers attacked Charlie Hebdo office last Thursday, killing 12 employees of the magazine. The attackers were killed on Friday when police encircled them in northern Paris.
Civil society members urged the UN to play a role in prevent blasphemous acts against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in order to avoid such bloodsheds in future.
Gathered in front of the provincial Information and Culture department, the activists said they were against all forms of violence and killing of innocent people.
Abdul Shakoor Najafi, an activist, told Pajhwok Afghan News killing was wrong act and so was insulting the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Soon after the attack, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani condemned the shooting in strongest words and condoled with the president and people of France.
