LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Three policemen were injured on Monday evening when a bomb exploded during a football match in the Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, an official said.
The blast took place on a football ground in the district centre at about 6pm during the second half of a match between the district High School and another club “Yaran.”
The district acting administrative head, Fasehullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News the injured included two local police personnel and one national policeman. He said it was a remote-control blast. He said the players and spectators escaped unhurt.
Nad Ali social council member Ghayasuddin confirmed the blast but he had no information about casualties.
The blast revives painful memories of a suicide attack at a volleyball tournament in southeastern Paktika province, in which 62 people were killed and more than 80 others wounded last month.
