KABUL the bodies of migrants who drowned as a result of a boat that capsized in Turkey this week.

Istanbul-based Consul General Malik Quraishi told Pajhwok Afghan News President Ashraf Ghani and Minister of Foreign Affairs Zarar Ahmad Osmani had instructed  to dispatch the corpses as soon as possible at the expense of the government.

Two of the dead bodies have been handed over to their families and sent to Afghanistan on a Turkish Airline flight. Some of the victims’ relatives have contacted the consulate and “we are working to know the fate of the missing people and identify the bodies…”

Only six people were rescued alive, with 23 bodies recovered and 13 still missing. On receiving the information, the consulate met two of the rescued individuals who were in stable condition, Quraishi said.

On Tuesday, the mission representatives met 4 other rescued people who were in stable condition. Two of them lost all their family members in the boat sinking.
