MAIMANA (Pajhwok): In yet another horrifying incident, Taliban insurgents cut open the stomach of a retired army officer-turned a taxi driver to plant a bomb after kidnapping and killing him in northeastern Faryab province, officials said on Tuesday.

The driver was kidnapped last night from the Andkhoy-Daulatabad Highway along with four passengers in Daulatabad district, the district chief, Abdul Salam Nazhat, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the dead body was found with a cut mark on the stomach causing alarm. He said bomb disposal squad was sent to the area to remove the bomb from his stomach. The fate of the four others kidnapped remained unknown, the district chief said.

“The slain driver left behind his 12 family members. He was the only bread-winner for his family. His killing did not satisfy the blood-thirsty militants who emplaced bomb inside his stomach,” remarked Abdul Ahad Elbeg, a member of the Faryab provincial council.

Residents said militants thrust the bomb inside the slain man’s stomach because he had served in the Afghan army.
