JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Five people were injured on Monday when a blast ripped through a hotel in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, a police spokesman said.
Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News that the explosion took place at the Baba Wali Hotel at around 12:00 noon. Five people were slightly wounded.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the incident and said the injured had been evacuated to hospital.
Asadullah, an eyewitness, said the blast took place at lunch time but he did not know what triggered the explosion.
