JALALABAD (Pajhwok): An NGO called “Pul Fikri Karai” donated hundreds of books on different topics to the newly-built Laghman University on Sunday, a member of the organisation said.
Muhammad Wasil Wisal told Pajhwok Afghan News during a drive last month they had collected 1,000 books on different topics. The books, he said, had been handed over to the newly-constructed university.
More of such campaigns, he pledged, would be carried out to encourage the book reading culture. “We have collected books on literature, politics, culture, history and other issues,” he remarked.
The reason behind donation to the Laghman University was that the institution was a newly-constructed one and its students would utilise the books.
Sharifullah Amin, a senior official of the university, welcomed the donation of books and said that it would prompt students to read more and more to enhance their knowledge.
