Candidates’ observers clash at IEC office
A member of Dr Ashraf Ghani’s team, Gulab Mangal, said that one of their colleagues was wounded in the face after a verbal dispute led to a physical fight between the observers.
“A number of gangsters from Abdullah’s camp entered the IEC office as observers and tried to create impeded the audit process,” Mangal alleged, blaming the individuals for using force.
He said observers of the candidates usually had differences over the vote recount but the rifts should be resolved in line with IEC rules, not by force.
A member of Dr Abdullah’s team also confirmed the brawl, but he blamed Ghani’s team. Zahir Aghbar accused the IEC of interference that caused the dispute between the observers.
However, the audit resumed at 10:00am.
