KABUL Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif met Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in his office on Thursday.

During the meeting Sharif congratulated Abdullah on securing the Chief Executive office and discussed the opening of new chapter or cooperation between the two countries on issues of mutual interest.

Abdullah thanked Gen. Sharif on his visit to Kabul and offered condolences to him over the victims of recent Wagha booming.

Pakistan Army Chief informed Abdullah over the recent military offensive in the tribal areas of Pakistan. He said that recent operations have shown Pakistan resolves in fighting against terrorism. He assured the Chief Executive that terrorist will be eliminated at any cost.

CEO stressed upon broad cooperation between the militaries of the two countries over the issue of terrorism.

He said the new leadership of the both countries had realized that terrorism was major threat for their stability.

He said the leadership of both Afghanistan and Pakistan shall not allow terrorist to target their masses and halt the economic development.

Gen. Sharif in his remarks said that the people of Pakistan and leadership had realised that terrorism was threat for both the countries. He said the militaries of both countries rendered scarifies in the fight against terrorism.

He added that Pakistan Army supported the unity government in Afghanistan and hoped that this government would reach up to the expectation of the people of Afghanistan.
