TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Thirteen people, including eight children, were injured on Wednesday when a roadside bomb tore through a private commercial vehicle in this capital city of central Uruzgan province, police said.
The blast hit an ice cream van amid a crowd of people attending an Eid Mela (fair) in Tirinkot at around 10am, deputy provincial police chief Col. Mohammad Aslam told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the injured included eleven civilians and two security officials.
A doctor at the provincial civil hospital, wishing not to be named, said they had been delivered 11 injured people, including eight children, from the scene. The children aged between 12 and 13 years, he said.
The blast comes a day after a suicide bomber posing as guest set off his explosives hidden in his turban in southern Kandahar province, killing a cousin of President Hamid Karzai.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast in Tirinkot.
