Cities evaluation project launched
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) on Tuesday announced launching a programme under which current infrastructures of Afghanistan’s cities and their future development prospects would be evaluated.
“Designed with IDLG recommendations, the programme is aimed to scrutinise the current cultural, social and economic conditions of our cities,” Matin Baig, IDLG deputy director, told reporters here.
He said the project would be completed in a year’s time at a cost of $250,000 provided by the Australian government and a UN-affiliated organisation.
He said the existing information about cities was not perfect and it was decided to launch a new survey to gather reliable information about urban areas.
