Civilians suffer most in insurgents’ activities

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Taliban fighters suffered heavy causalities in anti-militants drives but civilians were suffering the most in terms of casualties in southwestern Faryab province, an official said Monday.

Police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Nabi Ilham told Pajhwok Afghan News 43 policemen and more than 300 rebels, including ten notorious commanders, have been killed since March 2014 up till now now in insurgent activities.

He said 93 civilians including women and children were also killed as a result of roadside bombings and explosions in the province.

The police chief said that 240 policemen, 210 civilians and more than 20 Taliban have been wounded in the progressive year.

Losses inflicted on militants in Almar, Qaisar, Ghormach, Pushtoonkot, Bulcharagh, Karizwal, Kohistanat and Dawlatabad districts during security forces clearing operations, Ilham added.
