QALAT (Pajhwok): A new building for the Shinkai district police headquarters in southern Zabul province was inaugurated on Sunday, an official said.
Local authorities said that the building was equipped with all facilities and would help resolve the accommodation problem for police personnel.
District police chief Abdul Samad told Pajhwok Afghan News the building was constructed by a private construction company at a cost of $2.3 million and took two years to complete.
He added funds for the building construction was paid by foreign forces. The complex has been constructed on five acres of land, having towers, guardrooms, a residential block, an office for policewomen and a kitchen.
Provincial council head Haji Atta Jan, who was present at the inauguration ceremony, said that the construction of such buildings in Shinkai district was the result of support from residents.
He asked locals to support security forces so that they could implement more reconstruction projects in the region. This is the first modern district police headquarters in Zabul.
