KABUL (Pajhwok): Some political experts believed the nomination of the 25 cabinet members and two chiefs of independent organs were finalised as a result of compromise between the president and the CEO.

A few hours earlier, a long-awaited list of 25 ministers-designate and the National Directorate of Security (NDS Bank governor was announced during a gathering at the Presidential Palace.

In compliance with a presidential decree, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs introduced the cabinet members to the lower house of parliament for a vote of confidence.

Jafar Mehdawi, a member of Wolesi Jirga, claimed the formation of the cabinet was based on compromise and mutual understanding between the two leaders.

Both President Ashraf Ghani and CEO Dr. Abdullah failed to honour their promises of nominating qualified and deserving individuals as cabinet members, he charged.

According to Mehdawi, the Council of Ministers is not capable of guiding the country on the path to economic development and political progress.

Wadir Safi, a lecturer in law at the Kabul University, said that the cabinet formation involved both compromise and talent. He hoped the nominees would remain patriotic and work for the progress of the country.

Wahid Muzhda, a journalist and political analyst, said ethnicity and political affiliations remained key considerations in the nomination of cabinet ministers.

But the unity government insists the cabinet choices had been nominated based on professionalism and qualifications.
