SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The first-ever futsal ground was inaugurated in the capital of northern Sar-i-Pul province on Sunday.

Deputy Governor Abdul Ghafoor Dastyar hoped the opening of the futsal field would promote sports in the province and provide youth with facilities.

He said construction of facility would enable hundreds of sportspeople in the province to play there in their free time.

Malik Faisal, a trader who funded construction of ​​the field, told Pajhwok Afghan News the cost of the field was $52,000. He promised to charge users a reasonable fee. He plans to build a large stadium for youth in the province in the near future.

Futsal Director Hikmatullah Hikmat hailed the first private futsal field as a positive step for the development of the sport in Sar-i-Pul.
