KABUL would face a crisis if the candidates failed to conclude a deal soon.

At a meeting arranged by ANF on the subject, intellectuals and politicians said that forming a national unity government was the only solution to the current problems.

The foundation suggested a framework, outlining responsibilities of chief executive and president have explained. The president, his two deputies, a high council and National Security Council (NSC) were introduced as decision-making bodies.

In the executive branch, the chief executive and his deputies would have the authority of a prime minister, said Ahmad Wali Massoud, who drafted the structure

He added the framework had been suggested in the past too, but the need for the draft was felt more after US Secretary of State John Kerry visited Kabul to defuse the election crisis.

“The draft needs unanimity and understanding, not rivalry. We need to understand the principles of democracy in Afghanistan. Everyone should respect competition and friendship,” Massoud remarked.

A supporter of Abdullah, he warned Afghanistan would face a crisis and the international community would change its policy if the candidates and politicians failed to sign the national unity government draft.
