MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Chief of Army Staff Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi on Sunday promised finding solution to security problems in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said.
Gen. Karimi expressed these views during a visit to the province, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said Gen. Karimi held talks with Governor Abdul Majid Khogyani, the police chief, the provincial National Directorate of Security (NDS) chief and others provincial officials.
He said the acting governor and security officials called for continued security operations against rebels and cooperation in timely delivery of equipment and other assistance to security forces.
They told the army chief that security organs in Maidan Wardak maintained close coordination and as a result, security incidents had declined.
Khogyani said the provincial governor linked improved security in Maidan Wardak to meeting security forces’ needs.
He said the army chief was assured of strict security measures to improve security on the Ghazni-Kabul highway.
