HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen set the dead of a notorious commander on fire and shot dead his two other colleagues in the Shindand district of western Herat province on Friday, the town’s administrative chief said.
Eng. Faramoorz told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Balookzawal locality of the district in the morning. Mullah Nooruddin, the dreaded Taliban commander, had suffered injuries in a clash and he was shifted to Pakistan for treatment, he recalled.
Later, Nooruddin died of his injuries. But unidentified gunmen pulled out his dead body from a vehicle and set him on fire. He said that two of his militants’ associates had also been killed.
He suspected the dead body might have been torched by the commander’s opponents. He said that investigations had been launched to ascertain facts.
