LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Security officials claimed recovering over three tonnes of explosives and landmines from a car in the Dishu district of southern Helmand province on Saturday.
Brig. Gen. Hameedullah Siddiqui, the 604th border police commander, said the explosives were seized late on Friday in the Mulk Ghra locality.
The seized stuff included 1,710 kilograms of explosive, 910 electric fuses, 180 remote controls, 400 metres wire and eight guide books for mine making purposes.
The explosives, he said were being transferred from Pakistan for carrying out sabotage activities.
Siddiqui said rebels and security forces were locked in brief clash before border officials captured the explosive from the car. The driver and his accomplices fled back to Pakistan, he added.
