Herat shooting leaves tribal elder dead

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen killed a tribal elder in western Herat province, an official said on Wednesday.

Noor Gul, who was a doctor by profession, was critically wounded after the assailants opened fire on him late on Tuesday.

The tribal elder succumbed to his injuries on his way to hospital, police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said police had started an investigation into the shooting. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
