Herat woman gives birth to sextuplets

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A woman gave birth to four girl babies and two boy babies in a hospital in western Herat province, but five of the newborns died within hours, an official said on Sunday.

Malaika Pigham, a senior doctor at the western zone hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News the sextuplets were conceived naturally, but five of the babies died within six hours of their birth.

She said the babies died because they arrived two months premature. The 32-year-old mother and the last and surviving baby were in good health, the doctor said.
