HIA commander killed in Baghlan clash

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Three fighters, including a leading commander of Hizb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA), have been killed and four others wounded in a clash with police in northern Baghlan province, an official said Monday.

Led by Gulbadin Hikmatyar, HIA commander Zalmai had been killed in the overnight clash in the central Baghlan district, Javed Basharat, the police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said HIA fighters had been involved in insurgent activities in the province. However, HIA has not commented on the incident.
