High quality Nangarhar marbles occupy market

Jan 06, 2015 - 15:32

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Due to its high quality, people in the eastern zones prefer the marbles of eastern Nangarhar province over Pakistani marbles, factory owners said on Tuesday.

Nangarhar and Kunar provinces are known for high quality of natural reservoirs of marbles. The excavation of marbles was underway in most of the mines of the two provinces, the businessmen said.

In addition, several marble processing factories had been established in Nangarhar that produces and designs marbles in beautiful shapes.

Haji Rohullah, the owner of Sahil Marble Factory, said the Nangarhar marbles had high quality and considered matchless on national and international level.

Some ten years back, he said that marbles were being produced on small scale and most of the marbles were to be imported from Pakistaninfo-icon.

But now replacing Pakistani marbles, the Nangarhar marbles had grabbed local market and people preferred local marbles instead.

He said most of the marbles they designed were brought from the Khogyani district of the province. He said they bought the marble stones form the company that had signed the mining contract with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.

Haji Fazli Maula, the owner of Aryan Marble Factory, said that his factory was functioning since last 14 years. He said marbles were being exported from Sherzad and Noor Gul districts of Kunar province.

The owner of another National Factory, Haji Imal Momand, said they were bringing marbles from Sherzad district, which had a good quality of marbles.
