KABUL (Pajhwok): Doctors of Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital (IGCH) in the capital Kabul observed brief strike to lodge their protest over the beating of a colleague by some individuals, an official said on Sunday.
A doctor at the hospital in Wazir Akbar Khan area was beaten by relatives of a child who lost his life due to what he called negligence, IGCH Director Noorul-Haq Yousufzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He confirmed the doctors had gone on strike and would not return to work until they were provided justice. The three individuals who beat up the doctor should tender an apology to the community, Yousufzai added.
He said the director of public health at the hospital had met the doctors and persuaded them to resume their duty. The three men had been detained by police, Yousufzai said.
