Kapisa couple publicly whipped for adultery
MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): A couple was publicly whipped on the charge of adultery after a legal hearing in the Kohistan-I district of central Kapisa province, police said on Monday.
Identifies of the girl and the boy could not be ascertained. Kohistan-I police chief Abdul Azim Kohistani said the couple faced 100 strokes each in front of hundreds of people.
“After a month-long investigation into the case, the district court found the couple guilty of adultery and awarded them 100 lashes each.”
The police official said such punishments in the public would help reduce crimes.
Many residents of the district welcomed the court’s ruling and called for such punishments to those violating the Islamic legal code against adultery in future.
Resident Jan Agha said he had closely chased the incident. “We are happy because their punishment will discourage others to commit immoral acts.”
