KABUL) as an impartial news organization in promoting the freedom of speech and accurate reporting.

Danish Karokhail, Pajhwok Afghan News director, at a meeting with the former president said the news agency had significant achievements with regard to the freedom of speech and impartiality during the past few years.

Accompanied by his team, Karokhail said Pajhwok Afghan News had demonstrated greater neutrality and kept aloft national interests.

The news agency with its largest coverage in Afghanistan meets 80 percent of its expenses from its own resources, he said, adding the agency provided media houses services such as news and videos. It has special social networking, a special mine section and election coverage.

Karokhail said that he was proud of his news agency which had been publishing news in three languages — Pashto, Dari and English.

He presented Karzai with an appreciation letter for his role and efforts in promoting the freedom of speech during his 13 years rule as the country’s president.

About the development of media, Karokhail acknowledged: “Freedom of speech is one of the greatest achievements of Afghan people during Karzai’s leadership.”

Karzai praised the efforts of PAN in covering ongoing events and said that the news agency tried its best to publish accurate information.

“It is a matter of pride when an Afghan news agency is being used as an accurate source of news in many national and international media outlets,” Karzai said, adding that he had paid enough attention for promoting media in Afghanistan during his leadership.

But he said that the main reasons behind media improvement in Afghanistan were the efforts of intellectual Afghan youths.

Pajhwok Afghan News has been active for more than a decade publishing feature, investigative and news stories in Afghanistan.
