Ministers-designate to appear soon before WJ: Ghani
The president held out the assurance at a meeting wilt lower house commission heads. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Abdullah was also in attendance, the Presidential Palace said.
A statement from Ghani’s office said the Administrative Board delegation appreciated the introduction of the ministers-designate and said the move had put an end to the nation’s long wait.
The ministers-designate were to be introduced to the Wolesi Jirga today but the session was postponed. More than three months after being sworn in, the government named the 25-member cabinet last week after missing several deadlines.
Before the meeting, some lawmakers suggested the president would seek a trust vote for his cabinet picks with dual nationality. Last week, the Wolesi Jirga decided not to give a trust vote to ministers-designate dual nationality.
Under Article 72 of the constitution, ministers should have only Afghan nationality. But the Wolesi Jirga has the authority to accept or reject them.
