JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A suicide bomber on Monday targeted a NATO troops’ convoy on Jalalabad-Torkham Highway in eastern Nangarhar province but caused no casualties, an official said.

Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attack occurred in the afternoon but he had no details into casualties.

An employee of the Torkham Custom department said he saw a vehicle of foreign troops burning after the attack.

The alliance in a statement said: “We can confirm that a Resolute Support convoy was struck by an IED in Nangarhar today. There were no reported RS casualties, but a vehicle sustained damage from the attack.”

Soon after the attack, Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman, claimed credit for the attack.

Earlier, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into European Union Police (EUPOL) vehicle killing one civilian and wounding seven others, including four foreigners.
