NATO summit, polls a fiasco: Mullah Omar
In a message of Eid greetings, Mullah Mohammad Omar said they were trying to realise their goals, including the expulsion of international troops from the country, through military activities and positive relations with the world.
He added the “jihad and sacrifices” had defeated the Americans, their Western allies and domestic supporters, whose strategies had proved ineffective. The NATO summit in Wales and the presidential elections were a fiasco, he claimed.
“The Americans are entangled in Afghanistan in the long war of their history. Their rising military and financial losses and the dwindling of credibility are signs of their decline,” Omar said in the message.
He ordered the Taliban to focus on unity in their ranks, behave well with civilians and show them compassion to muster the support of the masses.
