FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): A detained militant shot injured a district intelligence chief in northeastern Badakhshan province on Thursday, an official said.
Arrested two days back, the insurgent shot at Yamgan intelligence head while the latter was offering morning prayers at a prison run by the National Directorate of Security (NDS).
Yamgan police chief, Col. Abdul Zahir Mujaddedi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the attacker, who used the NDS officer’s gun, was killed in police fire.
A source in the spy service, meanwhile, confirmed the incident and said the wounded officer was currently under medical treatment.
