KABUL (Pajhwok): A newly-constructed building for the Afghan National Army (ANA) First Brigade in the Garamsir district of southern Helmand province was inaugurated on Monday, a statement said.

The statement from the Helmand’s governor office said that the facility was funded by the US Marines, with the building having 130 blocks and other facilities, which costs $86 million and took three years to complete.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Helmand Governor Al-haj Muhammad Naeem, American officials and other local authorities.

Brig. Gen. Muhammad Ali Shujayee, the 1th Afghan army brigade commander in the Garamsir district, who participated in the inaugural ceremony, said their soldiers earlier faced several problems due to the absence of a proper compound.

However, he said the problems had been resolved with the construction of the new facility that had all the necessary facilitates.
