KABUL — or lower house of the parliament — for a vote of confidence today (Monday), well-placed sources said.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah have already agreed on key cabinet picks and they are being referred to the Wolesi Jirga later in the day.
The unity government took office almost three months back when the president pledged to name the new cabinet within 45 days. But the administration has since been dithering on the issue, incurring the wrath of lawmakers and international backers.
Presidential spokesperson Nazifullah Salarzai told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday the cabinet would be announced in due course of time. The president and the CEO have dropped similar hints.
Mohammad Mohaqiq, deputy CEO, said on Saturday some members of the cabinet, including security and economic organs, would be announced within two days. The remaining picks will be nominated within a week.
