Pak troops infiltrating in guise of Taliban: Faizi

KABUL, the administration of President Hamid Karzai alleged on Sunday.

A day earlier, the Punjabi Taliban announced giving up its armed struggle in Pakistan, saying the group would now pursue the implementation of Shariah through peaceful means.

In a video message, Punjabi Taliban leader Ismatullah Muawiya said after consultation with the Ulema, they were ending their armed struggle in the country, limiting the use of force.

A few days ago, he had announced the group would limit its activities to Afghanistan. The faction had been active in Punjab, the power base of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

But Karzai’s spokesman Aimal Faizi, in an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, said the Pakistan government was trying to send its troops to Afghanistan in the guise of the Punjabi fighters.

The move was aimed to fuel insecurity and instability in Afghanistan, he claimed, saying Islamabad continued to serve its ulterior motives by encouraging the insurgency in the war-torn country.

However, the spokesman added the Afghan security forces were capable of defending their motherland and dealing with the enemies of the country in all garbs.
