KABUL’s intelligence network of funding and instigating militants against the war-torn country.

During its meeting at the Presidential Palace, chaired by President Hamid Karzai, the government’s highest security forum discussed the overall security environment in the country.

Senior security officials briefed participants on the law and order situation in the country, with the defence minister assailing Pakistan for trying to arm and fund militias to act against the Afghan people.

A statement from Karzai’s office quoted the participants as warning the Pakistani intelligence game was detrimental to unity among people on both sides of the Durand Line and stability of the country.

Relevant agencies were ordered to initiate all necessary measures to inform the public on the issue and impeded implementation of the warmongering policy of Pakistani intelligence outfits.

A recent airstrike by NATO-led troops in the Shindand district of western Herat province also came under discussion. The council condemned the killing of civilians in the raid and expressed sympathies with families of the victims.

The Herat governor and the provincial council head were directed to provide financial assistance to the victims’ families in coordination with the Office of Administrative Affairs and the Cabinet Secretariat.
