KABUL Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif arrived in Kabul on Thursday for talks with President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on issues of common interest, particularly the security challenge.
Pakistan Embassy spokesman Akhtar Munir Khan confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News Gen. Sharif’s arrival in Kabul, where he held talks with his Afghan counterpart Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi. Matters pertaining to security were discussed,
Gen. Sharif will also meet National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar and Defence Minister Bismillah Mohammadi. They will confer on the regional security environment.
His arrival coincides with NATO‘s new Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg’s maiden visit to Afghanistan. He has renewed the western military alliance’s continued commitment to Afghanistan after 2014.
