Pakistan fires another 32 rockets into Kunar: police

ASADABAD (Pajhwok): The police chief on Wednesday said Pakistani forces fired another 32 rockets into the Dangam district of eastern Kunar province last night and in the morning, hitting farm fields.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the shelling that started last night continued until 8am on Wednesday, with the rockets landing in Loya Goriga, Wora Goriga and Khar areas.

He said there were no casualties in the latest shelling, but caused damages to crops and spread fear and anger among dwellers.

Pakistan is firing rockets even these days of Eid. The area people are very concerned that they are not let enjoy the festival,” he said.

When asked if they planned retaliation to the periodic shelling, Syedkhel said civilians lived on the other side of the Durand Line wants to resolve the issue through talks.”

A tribal elder in Dangam district, Muzammil, said several people had been killed and wounded so far in rocket attacks from Pakistan.

He asked the Afghan government to find a permanent solution to the problem in order the residents could get a sigh of relief.

At least 71 rockets were fired from Pakistan into Dangam, Shegal and Marawora districts on the day first of Eidul Fitr. A 12-year-old boy was killed in the shelling that caused financial losses to residents.

Since the start of this solar year, eight people have been killed and 53 others injured as a result of the Pakistani aggression that destroyed 32 homes, perished 300 animals and displaced 450 families.
