KABUL Army of targeting only local fighters in the ongoing operation in North Waziristan tribal region, an official said.
Afghani militants were not being chased by the Pakistani troops during the ongoing offensive. For a month and a half, the full-scale operation has been underway in Waziristan, leaving 400 rebels and security men killed.
At a news conference in Kabul, foreign ministry spokesman, Shakib Ahmad Mustaghni, said the operation was unacceptable to Afghanistan, he alleged.
A few days back, Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs Mohammad Akram Khpalwak had blasted Pakistan for following double standard against terrorist groups.
He claimed the Taliban fighting against the Afghan government were being supported by Pakistan. They had been sent to safe areas of North Waziristan, the minister claimed.
Over the past 13 years, Mustaghni said, his ministry had been striving to resolve ticklish problems, including terrorism and extremism, through diplomatic channels. But such efforts have yielded no results.
“As per information from our security officials, Pakistan has been involved in recent unrest and insurgent activities in various parts of the country,” he said, hoping Islamabad would stop meddling in Kabul’s internal affairs.
