GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Graduates from the Multiple Departmental Institute in southeastern Paktia province have asked the government to help them pursue higher studies.

About 213 students graduating from the institute’s science, electrical, engineering and agriculture departments on Wednesday evening attended a graduation ceremony.

Noor Ahmad Hairan, one of the graduates from the electrical department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the government should give him a job or should help him continue his studies.

He said his studies were insufficient but he could not switch the field now and needed to pursue higher studies.

Latifullah, who graduated from the agriculture department, said the government should provide them with jobs in their field sas well as pave the path for their higher education.

The institute’s director, Zahir Shah, said there had been no word from the Ministry of Higher Education about the graduates’ higher studies.

But he said those scoring 85 percent marks could find their way to universities. The Ministry of Higher Education has promised finding jobs for the students graduating from vocational and technical institutes.

Currently, 1200 students are studying in various departments of the Multiple Departmental Institute of Paktia, where more such institutes also exist.
